Misc April 2013

*Written 4/29/14*

We did a lot of things in April, starting with Easter.  Well, technically Easter was at the very end of March this year but I think we're safe to lump it in with April.  Here is Jane in her Easter dress.

This was the first year that she was really able to get excited about having an Easter basket.  I had it ready on the table and she ran into my room when she woke up to say that there were treats on the table!  It was really cute.  We did an Easter egg hunt, too, but for some reason I only have one photo of that:

This was our Easter dinner.
My birthday was April 5th.  I turned 29, but I don't remember much about what happened that day.  Here is Jane opening some presents with me, so I'm pretty sure that it was a good one.

I've been working with my sewing machine these past few months to get ready to make my Comic Con costume.  I did a couple of small projects to get in the swing of sewing.  The first one was this dress for Jane.  I took a bunch of really cute pictures of her.

I also made her a sort of quilted skirt.  It is really twirly and swirly!

Around this time I got my new phone, which takes pretty good pictures.  I had a lot of fun playing with it at the beginning of the month and taking pictures of the kids.

This is just a random dinner but I remember feeling proud of myself
for making it

Jane pulled up this chair and got a book and said,
"Mom, I'm going to read you a story."

On Adam's birthday I figured no one at his office
would realize it, so I made sure to show up
with a bunch of balloons and make a big deal
out of it.

My new phone came with some passes to use the new FrontRunner trains, so we decided to take advantage of it and ride the train up to Salt Lake City with the kids.  It was fun!

Temple Square was beautiful in bloom!

We also checked out the Gateway mall.  There was a beautiful mother's room
where I took Colin to give him a bottle.  It was so quiet!

Of course on the train back home the kids both
fell asleep!

Sleepy boy.

The family got together to take Adam out for a birthday sushi dinner!

Here's Colin with an adorable hat that a friend made for him.

Miss Jane looking so cute.

Being upside down is the best!

Colin has been growing and recently started rolling over!  He giggles and likes to play with small toys.  I have a long video of clips I took of him this month as he played and cooed and talked to himself.  It's all adorable to me, but it is long!

That was April!

Fairy Tea, March 2013

(Written April 2014)

At the Provo Library the Children's department puts on a Fairy Tea each year and it is pretty much the most adorable thing ever.  Many little girls dress up like fairies or princesses and they have a little performance and a little something to eat.  Jane and I attended this year because she was finally old enough to go and she had such a good time.  We spent a long time preparing - I curled her hair and she had sparkles on her cheeks and eye shadow to match her dress.

Here she is with her hair done:

And finally all dressed up.  There are a lot of pictures and I don't care because I love every one of them!

She had butterflies on her dress, necklace,
ring, on her hairband, and a butterfly sticker
on her hand! We went a little crazy

Mommy got dressed up, too!

When we got there she loved watching the ballerinas and see all of the other girls who had dressed up.

Everything was decorated so cute.

They had a room set up with little fairy houses

This is the ballroom.

My pretty fairy!

The Fairy court with the Fairy King (aka the Library Director) preside.

There was a ballerina fairy performance.

Yummy treats and favors

And dancing afterward!

An attempted selfie at the end of the night.
Here are some video clips that I took that night.  The first part is the ballerina performance and then there are a few clips of Jane dancing.

It was a lovely night and Jane and I had a great time!

Happy Halloween 2012!

Well, we knew Jane was going to be a princess, because she LOVES princesses. So we figured that Colin would make a great dragon.

But I didn't realize how cute he would look!

Sooooo cute!!
The dragon costume came with pants, but they were about as big as his ENTIRE body, so we decided to go without.

Jane enjoyed trick or treating this year as Belle.  She didn't quite get the hang of saying "Trick or treat!" at the doors, but she said thank you when people gave her candy so that's good.  Everybody thought she looked SO beautiful!

Mommy and Jane went around the neighborhood until it was too dark and cold to keep going, but it sure was fun!  We can't wait to go again next year. =)

Here's the pumpkin that Jane and Daddy carved!

Welcome Baby Boy!

I need to do an official post to say we had our baby and he's wonderful.  =)  We named him Colin James and he came just after midnight on 9/11.  I have been doing daily photos on the dayswithjane blog but forgot to say anything here for those of you who are subscribed.

Colin is almost two weeks old now.  Jane is a fantastic older sister to him, very sweet and always wanting to help take care of him.  She often says, "ohhh, cuuuuuute," when looking at Colin, it's hilarious.  I should try to get it on video.

So far Colin has been a laid back little guy who fits right in to the household.  We somehow feel more like a family now with Colin here.  We were missing him and we didn't know it!

Like most newborns, Colin likes to be snuggled by everyone.  He likes it when his big sister strokes his head which she does several times a day.  We spend lots of time everyday with Colin laid out on our bed and usually all three of us around him, or at least Mommy if Daddy and Jane are off playing.  We like to talk to him and give him kisses, and Colin likes to move his head around to try to find who's talking to him.  He is curious about the things around him, but in a quiet way.

Well, speaking of Colin, he is trying to eat his hand right now, so I am going to go save him!  Hopefully we'll have some more updates here, soon.  =)

Jane loves me!

I've got some really cute videos to post, but I realized that I should probably mention that Jane told me she loved me for the first time a week or two ago.  I was leaving for work in the morning, and I went into her room where she was sitting with Michael and told her I was going to work and gave her a bye bye hug.  While I was giving her a hug she said, "I yuv you," in a very contented way.  I cannot tell you how many endorphins must flood your body the first time your baby tells you they love you!
She says it almost every day now, at some point or other, and it is always a rush.  She has told Michael, too, and I can tell he gets the same kind of thrill, it is wonderful!  It's usually while she's giving us a hug.  She also gives wonderful kisses and snuggles with us and gives us big squeezes.  Today we were sitting on the kitchen floor playing when a song came on that she liked, and she just suddenly laid her head down on my leg and stayed that way for a few minutes.  Until I started scratching her back, and then she had to adjust positions so I could scratch more effectively.  And then she needed her arms scratched.  But basically: you never know when a snuggle is coming.  It could hit anytime, anywhere.  But sometimes that girl has just got to snuggle!

I can relate.
