12 weeks old today

It's amazing how far Jane has come, and how different she is already than when we first met her. Her little body can stretch out and hold itself up, instead of crumpling into a little snuggly ball all of the time. She'll smile whenever people smile right at her (and charm the pants off of them). She's cooing a bit - not really conversationally yet, but I'm sure we'll get to do some girl talk soon. It's harder now to see the baby that came out of my tummy than to see the beginnings of a little kid. I think she's pretty independent, and that she really has a sense of humor. She can also seem like a 90's teenager to me - remember how they used to say "Hel-LO!" and "DUH." She totally makes those faces. (Maybe they still say DUH, but not like we did in the 90's. We had attitude). She also LOVES her Daddy, and is totally going to be a Daddy's girl (not to mention how he will be wrapped around her little finger, too).

Her daily schedule has been changing, too. Around 4 - 6 weeks I started noticing that Jane would fall asleep late at night (around 1:00 - 2:30am) for a good 5 or 6 hour chunk. A couple of weeks ago she started falling asleep around 11:30pm (SO much better than 2:00am), and she'll sleep until 6:30 or 7:30 in the morning - glorious! I didn't do anything to get her to do that, she just fell into that routine on her own. In the morning, she's happy and she takes long naps. In the afternoon, she starts to get fussy and doesn't nap or takes quick cat naps and she eats pretty often. It gets pretty hard for me from 8pm-11pm, but it's easier now knowing that sweet relief is coming by 11:30.

I started working again when she was 6 weeks old, 20 hours a week, mostly in the evenings. Michael watches her while I'm gone. He is still working graveyard shifts himself, so we don't see a lot of each other but we both get good time with Jane.

Jane is so awesome that we've both decided we want a million more kids. Maybe we'll get lucky next time and have twins! ;)

ps - okay, just kidding. We do want lots more kids, but that's not to say it isn't hard. Especially when Michael goes to work all night and needs to sleep all day. I'm not sure if I've ever felt more tired than I do at 10:30 pm when my whole body aches so bad I don't know how I'm going to pick her up again (and there might be some occasional crying thrown in there). But fatigue has never been so worthwhile.

Family Resemblance

SO MANY people love to tell me that Jane looks just like her Daddy!

To you I say: hmph.

My sister asked if I had any baby pictures of myself, and I only have a couple on my computer (there are more in my mom's photo albums... hopefully. I was the last of 6 kids, I'm lucky there are even 2 baby photos of me). Luckily I have thousands of photos of Jane (probably), so I decided to compare.

Here's the first photo of me on my blessing day:

And a couple of Jane that I think are similar:

Here's the second one of me, I think I must have been a few months old:

(Check out my rockin' hair!)

And a couple of Jane:
Am I crazy, or is it UNCANNY?!

To be fair, I tried to find a baby photo of Michael, and I only have one where Michael looks closer to a year old. And in my opinion, it doesn't look much like Jane to me:

So I leave it to you Meservys to find any other baby photos of Michael and REPRESENT! But I did go through and try to find some photos of Jane that were similar to Michael's baby photo.

But I mean, come on:

That's my face!

(p.s. - my real and honest opinion? Sometimes I think she looks like a mixture of Michael and me, but most of the time I think she has her own look. Michael and I both agree that she looks nothing like what we were expecting. She just looks like Jane to me.)

But now it's time for your opinion. Tell me what you think!

Photos

Jane is only two and a half months old, and we already have a ton of photos of her. I wanted to post a few of my favorites from the past couple of months:

Three weeks old:

Five weeks old:

Seven weeks old:

8 weeks old:

This is my favorite one:

My Dad asked for a photo a day (ideally), and I created a separate blog for those photos: dayswithjane.blogspot.com. It's amazing to see how she's changing over the days and weeks!

Nerdy shirts: Item 1

For my birthday, my brother got me some awesome onesies for Jane. I know they are nerdy, but I love them! This is the first:

If you don't get the reference right away, this should help:

And if you still don't get the reference, then we might not be able to be friends anymore. =(

The onesies are a little big on her, but they should fit pretty well in a few months! Thanks Adam!

Birthday!

Today I turned 26! Janie's gift to me was falling asleep at 11:30 last night, waking up at 6:30 to eat for half and hour, and then falling asleep again until 10:30am. Good baby! Michael had some roses for me, and he watched Janie while I got to go to the store (by myself!) and get a couple of new shirts. Then he made me dinner! What an awesome birthday. Plus I had about a million phone calls from family wishing me a happy birthday, that was nice, too! Also, we finished paying all of our hospital bills from Jane's birth today. Now the repo men won't come and take her away! All in all, a great day.

Happy Easter!

My sister Lauren invited us over for Easter dinner! We had a big ham, delicious roasted veggies, Lauren's amazing deviled eggs, fruit salad (with pineapple - which is so amazing right now), veggies with dip, rolls... I wonder if I'm forgetting anything? Anyway, it was delicious!

Jane got lots of love and attention, which she seems to soak up happily.

And as it happened to be the day before my birthday, Lauren made a YUMMY dessert that was like a build-your-own-trifle. Mine had a little bit of everything!

I declare this Easter - a success!
